Your First Game

To see a picture of the layout of a Magic: The Gathering game, click the button             . There will be lables on things in the layout, and the label will tell you what that thing is. For example, your deck is your library (your draw pile.) In a Magic: The Gathering game, there are usually two players. You and your opponent(s) have twenty life each. Your goal is to make your opponent(s) have no life or negative lives (example: -12 life). Each player shuffles their deck REALLY WELL. A great way to shuffle your deck is by pile shuffling. This is when you seperate all the cards in your deck into four piles face down, and then you smoosh them all together. Then you pick them all up and put them into "deck form (facedown)" again, making sure NOT to look at the cards, because that would be cheating. Each player draws seven cards. The first person to go does not draw a card for only that turn. If that person has a land card or multiple land cards, that person should put one land card down. If they can cast any creatures or maybe an artifact creature, they should do it. Then the person declares the turn over. This sequence goes on and on and on until someone wins. If you are playing with a person who knows how to play Magic: The Gathering really well, don't be afraid to ask questions. Most likely, the person will help you. Don't be embarrased that you're confused; most "newbies" in Magic: The Gathering have some questions. If you are playing with a person who has just started Magic: The Gathering like you, this will be a learning experiance for both of you.

Enjoy!!!
