At the bottom-right corner of a creature card or sometimes an artifact card, you will see two numbers separated by a slash. The first number is its power, and the second number is its toughness. The card will usually say something. Follow what the card says.
On instants and sorceries, just read the card and do what it says, and then put it into your graveyard (visit the page called Your First Game and click the button that says Click Here to learn what your graveyard is and much more). But with instants, you can cast them on your opponents turn and on your turn, so if your opponent attacks you, you can use an instant to block. Enchantments and artifacts stay on the battlefield (to learn what the battlefield is, visit the page called Your First Game and click the button that says Click Here to learn what a battlefield is and much more). Planeswalkers are basically the same as creatures; they have power/toughness, but they always say something. Follow what it says. On the top of all cards aside from lands, you will see what the name of the card is. In the middle of the card, it tells you what type of card it is, and what type of creature, instant, sorcery, enchantment, artifact, or planeswalker it is.
